1/24/2024 0 Comments Deus ex human revolution jayaThis got me discouraged and I dropped the game for a year or so. I didn't grasp this design choice and so I kept fighting stuff and dying. In SS2, there is an early level that you're supposed to try to run through, mostly without fighting stuff in it since they respawn and don't drop anything really useful. So difficult that I left the game alone for a while. Human Revolution was a game I really enjoyed, but just like System Shock 2, it had a early challenge that I found oddly difficult. Then there's Conviction and Blacklist that went nuts on this level. Splinter cell has a few missions where killing isn't allowed, true, but they're rare and killing grunts only affects your percentage at the end of the mission. MGS just seems that way because of the tranquilizer gun, which is completely broken in every metal gear game (doesn't kill, doesn't make a sound, no penalties for bodyshots, headshots are an instant sleep, never really run out of suppressors or ammo for it, it makes enemies sleep FOREVER, and you won't get an alert from it ever) and makes playing lethally seem like a complete waste of time, but it's actually very fun to limit yourself to lethal weapons and CQC. They actually never really do, except if you care about what animal you're gonna get at the end or if you care about 100%ing missions. The shooting feels tight and actually feels like a valid strategy, especially for stealth, rather than pushing you into non-lethal like MGS or splinter cell. Feels like a really good stop-gap between now and Cyberpunk 2077 He’s also really well-acted (the whole game is). He’s smart and serious but funny/sarcastic when he needs to be. you get it)Īdam Jenson is also an amazing main character. Rather than looking for the vents or disabling the power, I did my 2-box-hopping trick I picked up in HL2 (standing on one box, moving the other in front of you, stepping to that box, moving the original box in front of you, stepping to that box. There was a time I had to cross some electrified water. I also really like being able to play in a way that seems logical: I love the little rewards for exploration (you get a “traveller” or “explorer” XP bonus for finding hidden passageways and rooms) and achievements for convincing NPCs and completing side quests. I’ve managed to get the “ghost” and “smooth operator” bonuses a few times and it feels really rewarding. There’s also a decent amount of options for how to approach combat and how you customize your gear before a mission. I think it was sort of drowned-out by the other releases around that time (MW2/MW3, Halo Reach, Gears 3, BF3, Skyrim, Dark Souls. I remember hearing a lot of buzz about it when it came out and having friends that played it, but I slept on it. Yeah, this game is 8 years old and still feels pretty good to play. It holds up remarkably well for a game from 2011 so like 2 or 3 years ag-wait. I didn’t play the first one, nor system shock, and I don’t really like “0451” games generally (I really didn’t like Dishonoured or Prey)īut hot damn, I’m glad I tried DE:HR. I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did. I’m not finished yet so no spoilers please! I’ve never played a Deus Ex game but recently picked up Human Revolution for really cheap on the recent steam sale.
